We are a growing staffing agency based out of New Haven, Connecticut, specialized in the placing of remote software development professionals to work directly with our clients located exclusively within the United States.We are currently looking for a Senior Android Developer for one of our clients, a web and mobile platform dedicated to creating innovative indoor mapping, digital wayfindinf and indoor location-based services solutions.
The Project
- Development of industry-specific versions for education institutions and corporate headquartes and campuses
- Development of an API and SDK that allow any organization to integrate our client's mapping services and platform into existing applications and IT infrastructure
- This is a full-time and permanent position for the right candidate
Responsibilities
- Work directly with developers and product managers throughout the entire app life cycle from concept, design, development, testing and release
- Work alongside the web developers to create and maintain a robust framework to support the apps
- Work with Mobile Architects and Delivery Directors to identify and address project status issues
- Write clean, stable, unit-tested code and accompanying documentation where needed
Requirements
- 3+ years of Android mobile application development experience
- Expert in Java, Google APIs such as Map Services and GeoCoding, developer tools (Eclipse or Android Studio), and general developer workflows such as debugging, profiling, unit test creation and execution, continuous integration using either Maven or Gradle, provisioning, distributing and submission to the Google Play Store
- Expert understanding of local data caching and multitasking on Android
- Solid experience with commonly used 3rd party libraries and services
- Experience with JSON and XML
- Experience building complex apps that have been successfully released to the marketplace

- Strong English communication skills both written and spoken
- Must have a high-speed and reliable internet connection as well as availability to communicate with our team and our clients during US business hours (from 9am to 6pm EST)
Additional Requirements (Good To Have)
- Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in IT, Computer Science, etc
- Expert in Java programming and architecture
- Experience with Git or version control systems
- Experience with task planning and estimating effort
- Development experience with other mobile platforms (e.g. iOS), a plus
- Solid HTML, CSS and JavaScript development skills, a plus
